Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of EditMyStatement's website and document-editing services. By submitting a document, requesting a quote, or paying an invoice, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the services.

2. Services

EditMyStatement provides professional PDF editing services, including — but not limited to — redaction, OCR cleanup, fillable-form creation, accessibility tagging, document restructuring, conversion, and proofreading.

We deliver a final PDF (or other agreed format) via an encrypted link. We retain the source file for 14 days for revision support, then permanently delete it.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal authority to engage us on behalf of yourself or the organisation you represent. If you engage us on behalf of a company or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

4. Orders, Quotes & Payment

  • Quotes — every job starts with a written quote, valid for 14 days unless stated otherwise.
  • Approval — work begins only after you approve the quote in writing (email, WhatsApp or signed form).
  • Payment — invoices are issued on delivery. Standard net terms are 7 days for new clients and 30 days for established clients.
  • Currency — quoted in GBP by default. USD, EUR and AED are available on request.
  • Late payment — interest of 1.5% per month may be charged on overdue balances.

5. Client Obligations

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate project briefs, source files, and reference materials.
  • Confirm that you have the right to share every document you submit.
  • Review drafts promptly and provide consolidated feedback per revision round.
  • Pay invoices by the stated due date.

6. Prohibited Use

You may not use our services to:

  • Falsify, fabricate or misrepresent information on official, financial, medical, academic, governmental, immigration or identity documents.
  • Create documents intended to deceive third parties (banks, lenders, employers, courts, immigration authorities, insurers, universities, or any other party).
  • Evade, conceal or benefit from fraud, money laundering, identity theft, or any other unlawful activity.
  • Infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights of any other person.
  • Harass, defame or otherwise harm any other person.

We reserve the right to refuse, pause, or cancel any job that we reasonably believe may be used for any of the above purposes, and to report suspected illegal activity to relevant authorities.

7. Revisions & Refunds

  • Free revisions — included within 7 calendar days of delivery, for changes within the originally agreed scope.
  • Out-of-scope revisions — quoted separately, typically at the same per-page or per-hour rate as the original job.
  • Refunds — issued only when the deliverable is materially non-conforming with the agreed scope and cannot be remedied within a reasonable additional window. Refund decisions are at our sole discretion.

8. Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to your source documents and the final deliverables we produce for you. We retain rights to internal tools, templates, scripts, automation and know-how used in the production process, but never to the substantive content of your documents.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to access, copy, modify and store your documents solely to perform the agreed services.

9. Confidentiality

Both parties agree to keep non-public information of the other party in strict confidence, to use it only to perform under these Terms, and to protect it with at least the same level of care as they use for their own confidential information (and never less than reasonable care).

If a project-specific NDA is signed, its terms control over any conflicting language in this section.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from or related to a specific engagement is capped at the amount you paid for that engagement.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, loss of profits, loss of business, or loss of goodwill — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
  • Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold EditMyStatement, its directors, employees and contractors harmless from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the services, or any unlawful use of a deliverable after we have provided it.

12. Termination

Either party may terminate an engagement on written notice if the other materially breaches these Terms and does not cure the breach within 7 days of being notified. On termination:

  • We will deliver any work-in-progress deliverable you have paid for.
  • You will pay for any work completed up to the termination date.
  • We will permanently delete all source files within 14 days of termination.

13. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), United Arab Emirates. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally within 30 days will be referred to mediation, and failing that, to arbitration under the DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Rules. Nothing in this clause limits your right to bring a claim in a court of competent jurisdiction in your country of residence.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on our homepage and, where appropriate, communicated by email.
